- This is an OEM chrome control knob, measuring approximately 1-1/2 inches in diameter. This control knob either controls the speed of the cooktop fan or the heat of the burner. This knob is compatible with D-shaped shafts. This is a simple and tool-free repair, just pull the knob off the shaft and place the new one into place. This is a good opportunity to inspect all the knobs on your appliance to maintain a consistent appearance. Each knob is sold separately.

needed new knobs for cooktop

The control know for the 3 stage fan unit and the switch itself needed replaced.
step 1 Disconnect electric/ step 2 shut off gas line then disconnect/ step 3 disconnect vent on blower from the hvac line out of building/ step 4 lift cooktop completely out and sit upright on ground/ step 5 remove all phillips head screws connecting the glass top to the metal housing of the unit/ step 6 (with a manual phillips head scr

ew driver) remove the screws holding the metal burners to the cooktop, there are 2 screws per burner, once screws are removed disconnect electric ignition chord from the bottom of the burner/ step 7 (2 man effort) lift glass top and disconnect fan switch, one at a time remove the electric leads and reconnect to the new switch, mount switch in housing it will snap into place/ step 8 reconnect all electric leads and screw unit back together/ step 9 after reinstalling cooktop into counter simply place chrome knob on new switch and test function. Entire process should take 1.5 hours for 2 workers.

Two of the knobs were cracked at the base.
Just put the new knobs on properly and all was working once again!
