The dual wall filter basket controls the pressure and helps to enhance the extraction, no matter what the grind, dose, tamp pressure or freshness. This type of filter should only be used with pre-ground coffee.

Simply followed the instructions in the Breville BES870XL instruction book for Advanced cleaning and reassembling the grinder (pg 26). I did need to use needle nosed pliers to remove the grind fan (fig 7) on bottom of the page Reassembly was easy. Read more...

This is a charcoal water filter for a coffeemaker, which needs to be replaced every sixty days or sixty uses. This part includes two filters total. It is responsible for removing minerals and water impurities. If these impurities are not removed by the filter, it can create a buildup of calcium in the coffee maker, which can become difficult to clean and can impact the flavor of your coffee. Simply lift the coffee maker lid, and pull out the older filter. Install the new water filter into the holder and press the door closed. You will then need to run cold water over it for about 10 seconds and allow that water to drain before installing it back into your machine.

The Steam Ring ensures an airtight seal to prevent hot water or steam from leaking between the Thermal Block Assembly and the Filter Holder Assembly. If your machine is leaking hot water or steam, it may be time to replace the Steam Ring, which tends to lose its ability to hold an airtight seal over time. This part is 2.5" in diameter, and is made of rubber. This product is also referred to as an O-Ring and a Silicone Gasket. Rings are sold individually, but due to the tendency to wear out over time, you may want to consider buying a spare.

Over time and thousands of uses, the grinding of the portafilter against the gasket causes the gasket to deteriorate and the seal to go bad.

A single hex screw secures the assembly. Remove it, pull off the upper filter, pry out the old gasket, swap in the new one, set the upper filter back in place, and secure it with that same screw. Read more...

If this part is cracked, torn, stretched, or otherwise damaged, it should be replaced.
