Product Description

If your refrigerator is not maintaining a consistent temperature, or there is frost building up, you may need to replace the defrost timer. The 120V defrost timer is a genuine OEM part that acts like a clock, and continuously cycles through a cooling and defrost setting. It does this to maintain the desired temperature and prevent frost from building up, which would decrease the efficiency of your fridge. You can use a multimeter to test if the timer is defective. Please be sure to disconnect the power supply to your fridge before beginning this repair. Depending on your model, the defrost timer can be found either on the ceiling or rear panel of the refrigerator.

If this part is defective would it keep the freezer running continuously
For model number fffu14f2qwj

Hi Jim, Thank you for your question. The defrost thermostat is a safety thermostat that works with the defrost heater to terminate the defrost cycle when the evaporator reaches a specific temperature, usually rated at 38° to 47° Fahrenheit. If the thermostat is defective and remains open circuit, then the defrost heater will not be energized and no defrosting will take place. To verify if your defrost thermostat is working, you will need to test it for continuity with a multimeter. Before removing and testing the defrost thermostat, please unplug the refrigerator from the electrical outlet. Set your multimeter to the Rx1 setting. Place each of the probes on a thermostat wire. When your thermostat is cold, it should produce a reading of zero on your multimeter. If it is warm, from 40 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit, then this test should produce a reading of infinity. If the results you receive from your test differ from the ones presented here, then you will need a replacement defrost thermostat. If you would like to place an order for it, customer service is open 7 days a week and anyone will be happy to assist you. Please feel free to give us a call. We look forward to hearing from you!

Defrost Timer require more triming than showed on Parts Select to fit my bracket
I followed installation video. My freezer defrost timer required a lot of triming to fit my bracket, but it worked great. My advise to repair is replace all 4 items at once to save time and money for freight.

my parents (85) freezer was warm/ ice in the bottom
I looked at the other reviews and decided to buy both the defrost thermostat and the defrost timer. I told mom I would try to fix her freezer for mothers day. After cleaning up, I checked the defrost heater as was described by others and it had resistance. I the installed both the defrost thermostat and timer.I plugged in the freezer and after about 8 hours I had mom put some water on the top shelf. The next morning was Mothers day and the water was frozen. This site and the reviews really helped. They are both very happy.
