Over time, the belts in your washer can either stretch out and sag, or become brittle and snap. When this happens, it can result in the belt losing its grip and will not be able to spin or drain the tub. If this happens, the belts will need to be replaced. This OEM belt kit includes the drive belt and the pump belt, which are both V-shaped, and made of black rubber. The pump belt is located between the motor and pump under the washer, and the drive belt is looped around the drive and motor pulley at the bottom of the machine. This repair is easiest to complete if the washer is placed on its back, and you will need to disconnect the power and water supply.

Installation Instructions

George from Burnt Ranch, CA
Washer motor was actuating but machine whined and emiitted smell of burning rubber. Agitator did not turn.
Disconnect washer from power, water inlet, and drain. Move machine out from installed position. Tilt machine against wall, back panel to wall. Remove belts, inspect the pump and agitator belts for excessive wear, burnishing, cracking. Remove front panel. Advance the water pump manually to confirm it is not stuck or clogged. Advance transmission (large counter weighted object on spindle immediately below tub) shaft to confirm freedom of movement. If it doesn't move, you should consider a new machine. Transmission repair is above DIYer level and too costly on older machine. If transmission shaft turns by hand, replace belts if necessary, and confirm tension to manufactures recommendation by adjusting position of the water pump. Reposition machine and attach water inlet, outlet, and power. Activate machine and confirm operation. Read more...

This is a V-style drive belt that measures approximately 51-inches long and 3/8-inches wide. This part connects the drive motor to the drive system in the washer to turn the basket. It is prone to wear with time and require replacement. Some common signs that the drive belt may be worn is if the motor continues to run, but the washer is not agitating, spinning, or draining. This part is sold individually and is OEM authorized.

This snubber ring fits washers and is located between the leg and dome assembly. The ring has a diameter of 9 inches. It is used to reduce noise and vibration for stability when the washer is operating. If your washer shakes a lot and makes loud noises, then it is best to replace this part to solve your problem. The tools required for this repair are: short flathead screwdriver, flathead screwdriver, Philips screwdriver, 1/4 inch nut driver, 5/16 inch nut driver, 3/8 nut driver, ratchet with extension, putty knife, locking pliers, slip joint pliers, and 3/8 inch socket.

Washer would run and agitate but would not spin.
Prior to the spin cycle not working, the washer would make a loud screeching noise when the spin cycle would stop. I wasn't sure if there was a problem with the break rotor or some bearing was out. Due to the washer's age, I decided to go ahead and replace the pulley, brake rotor, motor pivot spring and snubber ring components.
I began by unplugging the unit first, securing the lid with duct tape and laying the washer on its front face. I removed the belt and transmission pulley per instructions contained in the replacement kit. Mainly consists of popping the "E" ring off with a screwdriver. Once the pulley was off, I stood the washer upright and to access and remove tub. Having the tub out made it easier to compress the brake spring when re-attaching the brake stator. Removing the tub is easy, I just popped off the tub cover and tilted the tub around to ease the tension and remove the bottom springs with pliers (this may require an assistant). With the tub removed, I turned it over to remove the brake stator. USE CAUTION WHEN REMOVING THE BRAKE STATOR. A 200 LB BRAKE SPRING IS UNDER IT AND IS UNDER TENSION. With the new brake rotor and brake stator secured, I replaced the snubber ring and motor pivot spring. I put it all back together in reverse order and it spun like a top, is quieter and stops on a dime!

Fixes these symptoms

Installation Instructions

Timothy from Woodhaven, MI
Washer pump was broken, making loud continuous noise.
First, make the back of the washer accessable. Second, remove 4 screws holding the plate cover in left rear of washer. Third, use adjustable pliers to remove both hoses. Fourth, use a 10mm socket, and remove the three hold down screws at the base of the water pump. The belt tension will release automatically, when the pump is unbolted. Fifth, reverse same steps. Last, tip the washer forward, and place belt on the transmission pulley and the motor pulley. The motor itself is adjustable with spring tension, allowing you to move the motor itself, while placing the belt on the water pump pulley. When you allow the spring tension of the motor to spring back in place, your belt will be tight. Place water pump cover (access panel) back in place. Your washer is ready to be used. Read more...

Installation Instructions

Ray from Olive Branch, MS
My washer was making a squeaky noise and vibrating on the rinse cycle.
I unplugged the washer then took the front cover off and took the screws holding the lid out. Then i leaned the washer back against the wall and unscrewed the nuts holding the 3 tub hold down springs. These look like 2 seperate nuts, 1 on top and 1 under the washer bottom but it is 1 long body nut so just put the socket on the bottom and back it all the way off. Then Take the drive and pump belts off and put blocking down under the tub pulley and pull the washer back down so the tub is resting on the Blocking, this will raise it up enough to clean the cone hub where the damper pads go. I used a mirror propped up inside the back of the washer to see the back side of the damper area to clean and install the new pads. The kit does not come with the glue needed to put the pads back on so don't forget to order it with the parts. Also the glue does not give a full cure time so i gave it 24 hours to be sure it was set. then i started putting everything back together. The tub springs gave me the most trouble. I was able to get 1 on easy but the other 2 i had to use a clamp on the support to the spring and use a pry bar to hold the spring down far enough to start the nut back on. But after that it all went easy and quick. This site does a great job with all the helpful instructions, pictures and videos. Read more...

Albert from Unadilla, NY
noticed water was leaking in front of washer-right before we were leaving for vacation
Upon returning from vacation, we needed to do laundry-so I put some plastic under the washer and we did a load. The water was leaking from the seam between the lid and the back panel on the side with the hot and cold water connections- not the front. I removed two screws from the front bottom panel and two screws from the underside of the lid.Turning the washer on showed the leak was coming from the injection valve( it was brittle from age). The rubber injection valve was replaced and installed( using a little liquid soap to help the rubber hose to slip over the rubber injection valve) with a new clamp. The leak was fixed. Read more...
